Hansson Pin® 2
The Hansson Pin® 2 is the latest generation Hansson Pin implant based on 50 years of clinical use treating femoral neck fractures and slipped capital femoral epiphysis.
The hook pin implant features an inner sliding tongue which is pushed out through an outer pin to achieve fixation in the femoral head. The Hansson Pin was originally developed in 1973 by Professor Lars Ingvar Hansson at Lund University, Sweden, based on research concerning the effects of implants on the blood supply to the femoral head. The implant was subsequently designed to offer minimal surgical trauma and provide strong stable fixation with reduced risk of healing complications.
Fifty years of successful clinical use have led the Hansson Pin to its current form, the Hansson Pin 2, which now includes an end cap.
